Hi everyone! My name is Britney Wambold. I am
currently a junior starting my third year here at OU. I am an
International Security Studies major. I have not been able to decide a
minor yet. If anyone has any ideas let me know! I am a member of
the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. I was just the Assistant to VP recruitment. Even though it was very stressful,
recruitment paid off. I love all the new
members! It was useful for me to have a
leadership position as well. I volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters and
Second Chance Animal Shelter. I am very
passionate about those two causes. It is
always great to be able to volunteer and have a good time while doing so. I do all types of Yoga at a studio in Norman called Yoga at Tiffany's. Yoga is one of my absolute favorite things to do! Just this last summer I studied
abroad in Peru. I got to see more of
Peru than 99% of the people that live there.
One of my fondest memories on the trip was getting to see my first
wonder of the world Machu Picchu. I even
represented our school in my OU gear. I also went on a trip this summer to Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Florida. I had quite a busy summer but I like it
that way. One of my main life goals is to be able to travel all around the world! I am hoping to get an
internship in Washington D.C. or abroad next summer! That would give me the experience to
get a job in my field after college. I am looking forward to my classes,
football games, and date parties this semester.
I am hoping this will be the best year yet.
Hey Britney! I'm Catherine. I think it is incredible that you got to study abroad in Peru this summer and got to be immersed in the culture. Both Big Brothers Big Sisters and Second Chance Animal Shelters are great places with great opportunities. It is exciting to hear you are involved in them. I’m involved in a similar program to Big Brothers Big Sisters called Kids Hope and understand why you say you are “very passionate” about these causes (maybe a non-profit minor is in your future?). It is nice to meet you Britney.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure visiting Peru this summer was an amazing experience, especially getting to see Machu Picchu. I actually studied abroad this summer also but spent my time in Italy. I am impressed with how many great causes you are active in while also having to balance school work and a social life. I'm going to miss you and all the other great AXO's for the dance this year, no one can top our UP group. Hope you have a great semester and hope to see you soon.
ReplyDeleteFrom Machu Picchu to Pennsylvania... that sounds great, Britney! And it is so nice to meet someone involved in Hillel. They are active at Twitter and I follow them there, where they are always sharing information about activities. If there is ever an activity you are involved in that you would like me to include in the class announcements, just let me know! They always seem to have so many things going on!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you're really getting the whole college experience! I am a senior now but I am also in a sorority, I loved it. I only went through Recruitment once because I began interning every summer after that, but I am very glad I got to experience it. It is definitely a once in a life time experience.
ReplyDeleteI also volunteered at Second Chance for awhile. I have a passion for animals as well. Last year I got a dog of my own, so he's kept me pretty busy but I hope to get back there soon!
It's really cool that you got to see Machu Picchu, which is definitely near the top of my list of places to see. I think that it's really cool that one of your goals is to travel all around the world. With an International Security Studies major, that's certainly something that you can achieve. I don't know a whole lot about International Security Studies but most of the people that I've met with that major also chose a foreign language minor, so that may be something to consider. It's also really cool that you volunteer for BBBS and Second Chance. I look forward to reading more of your posts throughout the semester.
ReplyDeleteWow, yeah thats too funny that we're in the same International activism class! Hope your papers coming along alright. I must admit I am a little jealous of your journey to Peru. My journey to Turkey was pretty great but Peru sounds absolutely amazing. It is definitely at the top of my list of places I want to visit. I see you volunteer at Second Chance, thats really neat. I'm afraid if I ever worked at a shelter I would just end up taking all the animals home with me. Hope you have a nice day and I guess I'll see you in class.
ReplyDeleteHI Britney, like you I also really want to travel the world and go see random wonders of the world so I am kind of jealous of the fact that you got to go see Peru and Machu Pichu. It’s also really cool that you are passionate about your volunteer work at the Big Brother Big Sister thing because kids are the future. It was really nice meeting and I hope to read more of your posts in the future.
ReplyDeleteBritney, my roommate absolutely loves Yoga at Tiffany's. I actually went with her about two weeks ago to see how I liked it and I thought it was great. I attended one of the stress relieving/relaxing candle light classes at night and I definitely felt so much better afterwards. I'm actually thinking about getting a membership there! I love your passion regarding volunteering and traveling. Those are actually two of my favorite things. I also hope to be able to travel a lot in my life and study abroad before graduating college. Good luck with everything and I hope that this is the best year yet for you! :)
ReplyDeleteHey Britney, nice to meet you. I am also a junior at OU. It sound like you're an extremely adventurous person. Its so awesome that you got to see Machu Picchu. I have some friends in Alpha Chi Omega Sorority also! I am also looking forward to my classes, football games, and date parties at school this semester. Good luck with all your future endeavors!
ReplyDeleteI love love loved seeing all of your pictures from Peru this summer! Did you do the journey to Peru program? I actually looked into that program, and almost choose to go there but last minute decided to study abroad in China instead! I bet you had the most amazing time and best experiences. I know I had the most unforgettable experiences in China! I also would love to get to travel the world, I think traveling is so important and it is such a great learning experience when you go some place new with a completely different culture. It sounds like you had an amazing summer! You have always been really determined so I know you will get an amazing internship opportunity somewhere :) We definitely need to get together soon!
ReplyDeleteWow those internships sound really exciting! That’s really cool that you got to go to Peru and see the entire country. I wish I would have traveled more during my freshmen and sophomore year. International Security Studies sounds like a really interesting major. That is definitely a very useful degree to have with all of this ISIS stuff going on in the Middle East. Nice to meet you! Good luck with the rest of the semester!
ReplyDeleteThat is so exciting that you got to visit Peru and Machu Picchu, along with everywhere else this past summer! I am incredibly jealous! I thought my summer was fun, but yours must have been extraordinary. I haven’t delved much into yoga but I really enjoy what I’ve done and I’ll have to check out Yoga at Tiffany’s for sure!
ReplyDeleteHi Britney, it is nice to meet you. Great major! Sounds difficult. Assistant to the VP of recruitment sounds like an important and difficult job. I am glad that you did such a great job at it though! I know alpha chi had a great PC this year. I also volunteer for big brothers big sisters. How long have you been doing that for? You are very involved, which is impressive for such a demanding major.
